Meet Hyla-Monét
Educational Consultant & School Leader
Hyla-Monét Penn has been an educator for over 17 years. As a young girl her uncle often told her she was going to be a teacher, however it wasn't until Hyla's senior year at Spelman College that she accepted her ultimate calling. Teaching in an after school program and volunteering in elementary schools in Atlanta's West End birthed Hyla's passion for education, children, and supporting families in urban communities.

Hyla has served as a teacher, assistant principal, lead principal, and network leader throughout her educational career. Within each role, effective practices coupled with a focus on positive relationships with her students, staff, & school families have fostered significant student achievement, academic and socio-emotional growth, and high retention.

Hyla believes that before you can dive into increasing effectiveness you HAVE TO support the PERSON FIRST. Your practices won't matter if the people you serve do not believe you care. This belief grounds Hyla's leadership and the work she does daily. Supporting other leaders cultivate holistic environments for all stakeholders in their organization drives Hyla's work in consulting.

When Hyla isn't supporting the development of other leaders, her time is spent hanging out with her husband Jonathon and 3 kids Havyn, Jaxon, and Jagger. Being a sports mom and supporting her husband's lifestyle and leisure brand, JPenn Collection, bring her endless joy.
