Whew!!
I read an article today that Florida had over 9,000 teacher vacancies that would impact over 450,000 students. It was unfathomable to imagine so many positions going unfilled and so many children without qualified teachers! It goes without saying that the challenges of teaching in a pandemic, coupled with the challenges that were already plaguing the field of education have many questioning their future as educators and encouraging them to transition to different careers, begin an entrepreneurial journey, or just rest. One's health (mental, physical, emotional) should always take precedence.
I am usually finished interviewing for any vacancies at this point in the summer. However, this year I have just a few more positions left to fill. I'm working hard to not stress and remain committed to the process, being thorough in my interviews to ensure that my team and I hire educators most deserving of teaching our students and working with our staff. I have an incredible community of amazing students and phenomenal educators. We can't have "just anybody" join our community!
Remaining stead fast in the process means:
Have a clear vision of excellence for each role you're hiring for...
Keep that vision front of mind in each interview.
Identify what success looks like in the role you're hiring for.
Identify key characteristics that a qualified candidate should possess for that role.
Be relentless in your pursuit of finding the right person!
To all of the staff that participate on the panel for interviews, hold your administrators/hiring manager accountable to keeping with the vision. Don't let them get impatient and veer from the process. I promise, you WILL find the right people to join your community! My team and I are proof of trusting the process. We've hired some great people just this week!!! Happy Summer Hiring!
Peace & Love,
